show how i made my gloves/ arm warmers and choker
Last autumn, I tried to knit some beautiful semi-fingerless gloves using purple sock yarn. Knitting the finger stubs proved to be tedious and somewhat challenging. I put the unfinished glove away, hoping one day I’d acquire the patience and skill to finish them.
I recently found a skein of that gorgeous purple sock yarn and wanted to use it. The glove still depresses me, and I wanted to try something new anyway. My sock knitting skills are mediocre at best, so that was pointless. Then I remembered knitting the cuff to the glove was easier and looked quite nice. So I decided to use the yarn to make wrist warmers.
I knitted them flat instead of in the round, just because it’s easier. I also double stranded the yarn for more thickness. The wonderful thing about this yarn is its elasticity. It’s a blend of merino wool (which is very soft and has natural spring back), stretchy nylon and bamboo. Isn’t that neat? You’ll be wearing an Asian plant on your wrists. The finished warmers will conform to your arm shape very nicely, and will keep your wrists extra toasty while leaving your hands free.
